Head to toe skincare

It’s been a while since I posted about anything other than babies (yawn!) so I thought I’d write a post on my current skincare routine as I’ve recently had questions about the products that I use.

Being completely honest, I’ve never really paid a great deal of attention to skincare until recently. Growing up, my skin was easily irritated and I found that keeping my face clean with just water was the best thing for it. The more lotions and potions I applied, the worse my skin looked, so until I escaped my most delicate years I really didn’t bother much with a proper routine. Nothing like a little H20 to blow the cobwebs away!

It’s only now, that my skin is less prone to breaking out and just generally more even that I’m happy to splash the cash on some decent products that I know won’t be wasted. I’m also more likely not to wear makeup every single day since having Isla so having a healthy, clear complexion is important for my confidence.

If you have read any of my previous posts, you will know that I’m head over heels in love with Charlotte Tilbury so it won’t come as much of a surprise that some of products I use are from her range. All products are linked through the titles.

Charlottes magic cream

This is a treat and transform moisturiser which is just I N C R E D I B L E. I’m really not one to get excited about a face cream but this is the dogs bollocks. My skin can often look quite dull but within seconds of applying this cream my skin is glowing, feels hydrated and looks plump and illuminated. I apply it twice a day, once in the morning and again before bed. To be honest I wish I could bath in the stuff but at £70 for 50ml it’s just not doable! Once I have applied this cream, I feel so much more comfortable in my naked skin and for me that’s worth the money!

Charlotte Tilbury Instant magic facial dry sheet mask

This is my go to when I feel like my skin needs a bit of a lift or I fancy a pamper! The mask is dry like fabric and is full of vitamins, floral extracts, peptides, oils and butters. Usually face masks are wet and are mainly glycerin and water which evaporates off of the skin after 45 minutes, however, this lasts for 8 hours! After use, my skin most definately feels smoother, more hydrated and masses brighter, I also feel like my complexion is visably healthier and more even. Each mask can be used 3 times and costs £18. This is definately a treat for me and I will use 1 mask over a 4-6 week period.

Melting gel cleanser, No7 at Boots

I have used this for a long time now and swear by it. It’s a clever gel that transforms as you work it into your skin, it starts off as a non drying oil and turns to a light milk which is perfect for easy rinsing. This is amazing at effectively removing all makeup and impurities whilst being really gentle. I don’t use this everyday (sometimes I can’t find the time!) and I really notice the difference. There is nothing better than skin that is completely free of all makeup, dirt etc and this is the key to it!

Vitamin E hydrating mist, Superdrug
I only discovered this recently and it’s a game changer! This is a toning mist enriched with vitamin e to hydrate your skin and protect it against the environment and early aging. I use this to spray on my beauty blender when blending my foundation and concealer.. it’s unreal! It leaves my skin looking dewy and helps me to achieve a flawless finish. I also read somewhere that it has exactly the same ingredients as the Mac fixing spray but is a fraction of the price at £2.99 – you can’t go wrong!

Since having Isla, I have definately noticed that the skin on my body, particularly my legs and bum has changed. It’s not for the better, or worse, but it’s made me pay more attention to it. My skin is, however, definately not as firm and so I have been moisturising it each day in hope that it will retain its hydration and appear smoother and healthier. There’s nothing like a shiny pair of pins! (Pins are legs for those not acquainted with good ole cockney slang).

I am quite particular about body cream, I absolutely hate feeling sticky and can’t stand creams that just sit on the skin and don’t soak in. Given all my requirements (lol!) I have fallen in the love with the Nivea irresistibly smooth body lotion. It smells so fresh and leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft and just the way I like it. It soaks in really quickly and within 5 minutes I can put my jeans on without fighting major friction!

I also try to exfoliate my body once every few weeks to remove any dry skin. My favourite exfoliator is Soap and Glory sugar crush body scrub, it smells so good!

Lots of love
